Valley of Tears & Tel Saki: The 1973 War on the Golan
Battle HeritageNature & Landscapes

In October 1973, a small number of Israeli forces stood against the Syrian offensive in the Golan Heights. We’ll visit the Valley of Tears, where the 7th Armored Brigade halted hundreds of Syrian tanks, and Tel Saki, where Israeli soldiers fought for hours while surrounded. From Mount Bental, we’ll take in the entire battlefield and today’s border line, while exploring the current situation on the other side.

Along the way, we’ll visit memorials and military outposts, discovering what the Golan Heights looked like before 1967 and how it changed in the years that followed.

The tour is tailored to the age and background of the group, combining personal testimonies, maps, and discussion.

Route notes

Mostly by vehicle with short walks. Mount Bental is cold and windy in winter: bring a coat.
