Mount Arbel rises almost 400 meters above the Sea of Galilee. From the top you see the whole lake, the Golan and the Hermon. We descend a steep trail with pegs and iron handholds to fortified caves carved into the cliff.
According to Josephus, rebels hid in these caves in Herod's time, and he lowered soldiers in boxes on ropes from the clifftop. At the bottom we visit the remains of the Arbel synagogue and end with a view over the Ginosar Valley.
